Moose Hunting Fact Sheet
A Guide & Check-list for hunters at RAINBOW POINT LODGE

The moose hunt at Rainbow Point Lodge is guaranteed to be one you will enjoy. There are few hunting thrills greater than a one-on-one meeting with a Canadian moose. Our particular area has a very good population of moose, and much of your success lies in your own hunting abilities & patience. This is NOT a guaranteed successful hunt, and we don’t believe there can honestly be such a thing. In more than 25 years of guiding, we have had many more good seasons than bad. Honesty and hard work is how we run our hunts, and is what keeps our sportsmen coming back year after year. We provide a quality, guided hunt, including everything from meals to guides and much more.

Archery Moose Hunt:
Rainbow Point Lodge offers 1 week of fall archery moose hunting starting the opening week of hunting season each year. This date will fall between mid-late September (refer to current dates on website or rate sheet annually).

Rifle Moose Hunt:
Ontario Residents who make applications for their own tags in either WMU 4 or 5 may be accommodated at Rainbow Point Lodge during the gun season, commencing the 2nd Monday of October. Non-resident rifle hunters may contact us to be placed on a waiting list should any lodge hunts come available. Calf hunts by rifle can be quoted upon in any given year.

Tag Allotment
Adult tags are very limited so it is best to contact us more than a year in advance to ensure a good lead position on a waiting list for hunts. Archery hunters will each be allotted a bull or cow tag determined prior to booking the hunt. Calf hunts are also available for individual hunters or groups. Quite often a blend of bull/cow tags in a group is more beneficial than all bull tags. Call for combo quotes.

Where is the Hunting Area:
Our moose tags are in both WMU 5, which is immediately surrounding the Lodge, and WMU4, which is adjacent, and approx. 20 minutes away.

Timing & Length of Hunts
Refer to our rate sheet for specific dates of hunts offered yearly. Hunts are quoted on a basis of 6 nights accommodation, and 5 days hunting. Arrival is on a Saturday and hunting starts on Sunday. The hunt is physically demanding, and hunters can expect long days in the woods. You will leave camp before daylight, not return until well after dark.
